Session gets disconnected when left idle for a period of time
My Flex Terminal Emulator session keeps getting disconnected when left idle for a period of time. Is there an option in Flex Terminal Emulator that can be configured to prevent this from happening?
Keep Alive is a configurable option available in Flex Terminal Emulator. When enabled, Flex Terminal Emulator will send a periodic timing signal to the host system to ensure that the session does not get terminated when left idle for a period of time.
Follow the steps below to enable Keep Alive:
- Start a Flex Terminal Emulator workspace and select the appropriate session.
- Select the Home ribbon tab.
- Press the Connect button above the Communications tab group to disconnect the session.
- Press the Setup button above the Communications tab group.
- Enable Keep Alive Sequence by selecting NOP or Timing Mark under the Advanced section and specify the Keep Alive Timeout value.
- Press OK.
Notes:
- The Keep Alive Timeout must be set to a value that is less than the time that an idle session is disconnected by the host. For example, if the host is configured to disconnect sessions that are idle for 15 minutes, the Flex Terminal Emulator Keep Alive Timeout should be set to 14 or less.
- See the following topic in the online user guide for more information on Keep Alive: https://userguide.myflexterm.com/CommunicationSetupTN3270Display.html.
