Maximizing the Host Screen Area in Flex Terminal Emulator

Maximizing the Host Screen Area in Flex Terminal Emulator

To increase the visible host screen area in Flex Terminal Emulator, you can hide or minimize certain interface elements. The following options can help you optimize screen space.

Hide the Status Bar

The Status Bar is displayed at the bottom of the workspace and shows information about the current session.

  • To hide it:
    1. Go to the View ribbon tab.
    2. In the Show or Hide group, uncheck Status Bar.

This provides a small amount of additional screen space.

Minimize the Ribbon

The ribbon interface provides access to many features but can take up a significant portion of the screen.

  • To minimize the ribbon:
    • Click the Minimize the Ribbon button in the upper-right corner of the workspace window.

When minimized:

  • The ribbon is hidden by default
  • Clicking any ribbon tab temporarily displays it

Hide the Ribbon Completely

You can fully disable the ribbon for maximum screen space.

  • To hide the ribbon:
    1. Click the Customize Quick Access Toolbar button (upper-left corner).
    2. Uncheck Show the Ribbon.
Tip

If you hide the ribbon, consider adding frequently used commands to the Quick Access Toolbar:

  • Right-click any command on the ribbon
  • Select Add to Quick Access Toolbar

Use Auto-Hide for Extensions

If you use System Extensions or Custom Extensions, they can be docked to the sides of the workspace and may reduce available space.

  • To enable auto-hide:
    • Click the Auto-Hide (pin) button in the upper-right corner of the extension window

When auto-hide is enabled:

  • The extension collapses out of view
  • Hover over or click its tab to temporarily display it

Summary

By adjusting these interface options, you can significantly increase the usable host screen area:

  • Hide the Status Bar for minor space gains
  • Minimize or hide the ribbon for major improvements
  • Use auto-hide for extensions to keep tools accessible without sacrificing space

Notes
These settings allow you to customize the workspace for a more focused and efficient terminal experience.
