Viewing Keyboard Mappings in Flex Terminal Emulator
If you have customized your keyboard layout in Flex Terminal Emulator and want to review your key mappings in a separate view, you can easily generate an HTML file that displays your entire keyboard configuration.
How to View Your Keyboard Layout
Follow these steps to open your keyboard mappings in a list view:
Launch the Flex Terminal Emulator Workspace.
Select the appropriate Terminal Emulator session (if applicable).
Navigate to the Schemes ribbon tab.
Click the Keyboard Scheme icon in the Keyboard tab group.
Next to the search box, click View Layout.
This action generates an HTML file containing your full keyboard layout in a readable format.
File Location
When you click View Layout, a file named Default.html is saved to your Flex Terminal Emulator working directory. For example:
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\FlexSoftware\FlexTerm\Schemes\Default.html
You can open this file at any time to review or share your key mappings.
Notes:
- In some cases, the HTML file may not automatically open in your default web browser.
- You may be prompted to select an application to open the file.
This behavior is commonly observed when Microsoft Edge is set as the default browser in Windows.
If prompted:
- Select your preferred browser from the list.
- Optionally check “Always use this app to open .html files” to prevent the prompt from appearing again.

This approach allows you to quickly reference or document your customized keyboard mappings outside of the emulator environment.
